Don’t go it alone
The insurance companies have adjusters that work to limit the amount of money they pay you. You should have an adjuster working for you to make sure you are paid what you are owed. Trying to go it alone against the massive insurance companies, is a recipe for a stressful situation.
Property owners simply do not have the experience to know whether the insurance company is paying their claim correctly. Having a public adjuster looking out for your interest puts the power back in your hands.
Tornado's/Hurricanes/Wind
Never underestimate the amount of damage mother nature can do with the wind. Accessing wind damage requires an experienced professional who knows exactly what to look for. Do not expect your insurance adjuster to crawl around in dark places checking for the hidden damages that could later lead to catastrophic failure.
Fire damage
Fire is one of the most devastating disasters on earth. The dangers present do not end when the fire department leaves. Toxic chemicals and carcinogens in the debris can cause extreme damage to your health. A homeowner should never go digging through the aftermath of a fire without the proper safety equipment. Yet, insurance companies continually send homeowners in digging for proof of items to be covered. Clean up and content logging should be done by a professionally trained team. Property owners should not be victimized twice.
Hail damage
Hailstorms are the most common loss in property insurance. From 2017-2019, there were 637,977 hailstorms in Texas. With so many hailstorms, you must wonder why many insurance adjusters perform like this is their first one. You cannot simply walk around a roof and determine if you have hail damage. Accessing hail damage on any roof takes a trained professional who knows how to do a proper assessment of the material. Raising or even removing a section may be necessary to accomplish an assessment. With roofs running in to the 10's of thousands, you do not want to get this wrong. You could wind up paying the bill for the repairs in the future.
Water & Sewage Claims
Water and Sewage claims can affect your entire home. These losses can force your family out of your house and leave you sheltered elsewhere for months; coverage for these claims can be extremely complicated. Anytime water is involved, mold becomes a major concern. Insurance companies are notorious for wanting to just “dry it out” with fans and dehumidifiers, this does not always work. You need an experienced adjuster standing between you and your carrier, making sure your families health is not jeopardized, and your home is returned to pre-loss condition.
